Hamden Forms New Solopreneur Cluster
“Home Based Businesses Get Recognition”
Hamden formed its ninth industry sector, recognizing the value and potential of home based businesses. “Job growth comes significantly from small businesses. They have the potential to be the next generation of successful businesses,” stated Dale Kroop, Director of Hamden’s Economic and Community Development.
Hamden’s solopreneur community is one that has been growing over the years and Hamden is proud to support the growth of these solopreneurs. A solopreneur is a business owner who works and runs their business generally out of their homes and in some cases rents a small space in another building.
Hamden held its first meeting of over 25 solopreneurs which included a turn out of all different business types such as law, lawn care, financial, college counseling and investment groups. During this meeting, the topics discussed included any other required permits, client advertising, marketing and financing and the valuation of personal property for tax purposes.
“We hope to take our initial meeting and develop an agenda for 2016 and beyond that will nurture the growth of the solopreneurs for years to come and take them to the next level of services,” stated Dale Kroop, Director of Hamden’s Economic and Community Development
