Trees for Southern Hamden

Would you like a tree planted in front of your home to add beauty and shade to your
neighborhood?

The Town of Hamden has a program to plant more street trees in southern Hamden, specifically, in the Newhall/Highwood Plains, and State Street neighborhoods.  The trees will be planted between the sidewalk and curb, or if there is no sidewalk, within 10 feet of the street.  If you are interested in having a tree planted, please fill out the accompanying tree request form.  A member of the Hamden Tree Commission will contact you to discuss the tree species/varieties that are available and suitable for your location.  Trees are usually planted in April and October.

The Town will pay for and plant the tree, but the resident is responsible for its care. It is
especially important to water newly planted trees during the first three growing seasons and to
mulch the tree. The Town can provide a tree watering bag that can be filled with a hose. While it
is expected that the resident will care for the tree, the Town requires that the property owner
provide written consent to plant the tree.

If you have any questions, contact Hamden Tree Warden Chris Rhone: crhone@hamden.com or
